Personality:
( + ) Dependable: Kaji’s dependability is connected to his leadership skills. Even though he doesn’t want to be the captain he was voted into it by the rest of his grade. However, he’s very self-aware of what he can and cannot do and is an excellent delegator. He has two vice captains, one is very good at rallying people and getting everyone’s attention and speaking for Kaji. The other is very emotionally intelligent and despite being mute is an excellent communicator. So, Kaji delegates those things to them. He has the ability to understand that being the captain doesn’t mean he has to do it all. It means he has to be aware of everyone and the situation, he pays attention to those around him and is reliable and dependable. Those around him know that when they are in trouble that he’ll be there to make sure they have the support that they need.

( - ) Wrath: His biggest weakness is his quick-tempered nature. Before meeting one of his older classmates he would lose control in his anger and would continue fighting until the older classmate had to punch him to knock him out of it. The same classmate helped him with this with the headphones and candy tactics. However, his anger still flashes, though he is able to catch himself now and remain in control of his violent tendencies. He also knows he is not the best communicator. He is all sharp edges with his words, cutting right to the core of issues even if it means hurting someone’s feelings or making them feel bad. He’s lost his temper with a student from his own school before, stopping in the middle of a large fight to punch that student and yell at them to get their act together. His anger was very controlled and directed in this instance and to push the other student to be better at leading and paying attention to the people he cares about — looking at the larger picture of a fight.

( - ) Inarticulate: Kaji is very bad at direct communication. He often has his headphones on with music blaring and generally tunes out his surroundings. However, it’s shown that he still has some awareness as he was around the first years and Sakura was arguing that he shouldn’t be the grade captain and instead of reacting in a calm manner Kaji yells that, in short, that he should get over it and do it because his entire class is trusting him. When he’s trying to communicate, his words are always blunt and harsh. Another time that Sakura sought help from him about leadership Kaji doesn’t have his own words to help him and instead he verbatim gave the same speech that his senpai had given him when he first because grade leader.

( - ) Perfectionism: In a lot of ways Kaji isn’t actually a perfectionist but when it comes to protecting those around him he has no mercy for himself. There’s a point in fighting that if he crosses a line he loses his control but becomes infinitely more strong in a fight. During a large battle of several enemy gangs encroaching on his school’s territory he’s forced to lose control in a way he hadn’t allowed himself to in a long time. He’s rather severely injured in the fight and hadn’t even been able to finish and win the fight. Instead his senpai had stepped in to finish the fight once he was knocked out. While he was recovering his vice captains were trying to comfort him over it and that it was okay that he had lost control only to realize that is not what he was so angry at himself about. Kaji was angry because even though he had allowed himself to go into that state he still hadn’t been strong enough to protect his friends and that someone had still had to step in for him.
